Quick answer: Yes. We answer the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays. When you call with an emergency, we dispatch the nearest available technician from our Albany base. Burst pipes, sewer backups, no hot water and overflowing toilets are all calls we take around the clock.

The Capital Region is where Fullerton Plumbing started and where our vans live. We work every day in Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, Clifton Park, Colonie and Glens Falls, plus the smaller river towns and hill towns between them. The region stretches from the Hudson and Mohawk river cities north to Lake George and the edge of the Adirondacks, east to the Vermont and Massachusetts lines, and south into Columbia and Greene counties along the Hudson. That spread means one day can include a rowhouse basement in Albany, a new build in Malta and a lake camp in Warren County.

The housing here is some of the oldest in the country. Albany, Troy, Cohoes and Schenectady are full of brick rowhouses and multifamily homes from the 1800s and early 1900s, many still running cast iron drain stacks, galvanized supply lines and clay sewer laterals out to the street. The suburbs that grew after World War II added ranches and split levels, and Saratoga County keeps adding new subdivisions. Outside the cities, many homes run on private wells and septic systems. Long, hard winters tie it all together, so frozen pipes and spring thaw backups are part of the job.

Plumbing Problems We See Most in the Capital Region

Old clay and cast iron laterals

Many older homes in Albany, Troy and Schenectady still drain through clay tile or cast iron sewer lines. Roots work into the joints, cast iron scales and cracks, and the line slowly closes up. We run a camera to show you exactly what is happening, then clear it with a cable or hydro jetting, or plan a repair if the pipe has failed.

Frozen pipes in deep cold

January cold snaps freeze pipes on outside walls, in crawl spaces and in unheated porches and garages. Rowhouses with plumbing along exterior brick walls are especially exposed. When a pipe freezes, we thaw it safely, check for splits and repair any burst sections before you turn the water back on, so a frozen line does not turn into a flooded basement.

Spring thaw and basement water

When snow melts and the ground stays frozen underneath, water has nowhere to go but your foundation. Older basements in the river cities often take on water every spring. We install and replace sump pumps, add battery backups and clear floor drains so the water leaves your basement instead of sitting on the floor.

Aging water heaters

A lot of Capital Region homes still run tank water heaters tucked into tight, older basements. Tanks often last 8 to 12 years, and sediment shortens that. We repair what makes sense to repair, replace tanks that are leaking or failing, and install tankless units, including Navien, for homeowners who want endless hot water and more floor space.

Called Fullerton for a sewer main backing up into my basement on a Sunday night and they had someone sent out within an hour. Shaquille was incredibly helpful with clearing out the line and showing us a live view of our sewer line. Shaquille even went above to help us clean out the water mess from the issue. Overall great experience and fast help!

Capital Region Plumbing Questions

Yes. We answer the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays. When you call with an emergency, we dispatch the nearest available technician from our Albany base. Our shop is at 1400 Central Ave in Albany, NY 12205. That puts us close to the Northway, I-90 and Route 7, which is how we get around Albany, Schenectady, Troy and Saratoga County quickly. Our vans start and finish their days here, and the phone is answered here 24/7 at (518) 776-7838.

Yes, it is one of the most common jobs we do. Older homes in Albany and Troy often have clay or cast iron laterals that crack, sag or fill with roots. We start with a sewer camera inspection you can watch live, then clear the line, spot repair it, or replace it with trenchless methods when the yard and pipe allow.

Yes. Plenty of Capital Region homes outside the cities run on private wells and septic. We handle the plumbing inside the house and up to those systems: well pressure problems, water softeners for hard well water, drain and sewer lines to the tank, and water heaters. We will tell you plainly if a problem belongs to a septic pumping company instead.
