Drain Cleaning details
When a drain keeps clogging no matter how often it is snaked, the problem is the buildup on the pipe walls. Hydro jetting scours the line clean from end to end.
Quick answer: It is safe for most pipes that are structurally sound, including older cast iron and clay. That is why we run a camera first. If we see a collapsed, badly cracked or separated section, we recommend repair instead of jetting, because high pressure water should not be pushed through broken pipe.
Hydro jetting sends water through a specialized hose and nozzle at very high pressure. Rear facing jets pull the hose forward through the pipe while scouring the walls, and forward jets break up what is ahead. The result is a line that is cleaned edge to edge rather than one with a small channel punched through the middle. It removes the grease, soap scum, mineral scale and fine roots that a cable leaves behind, which is why jetted lines usually stay clear far longer than snaked ones.
Fullerton Plumbing uses hydro jetting for recurring main line clogs, kitchen lines packed with grease, sewer laterals with root intrusion and drains coated in hard water scale. Before we jet, we usually run a camera to confirm the pipe is sound enough for it, because badly broken or collapsed pipe needs repair rather than cleaning. After jetting, a second look on the camera shows you the difference. You get an upfront quote before we start, and the work area is cleaned up when we leave.

We inspect the line with a sewer camera to see what is inside and confirm the pipe can handle jetting. Cracked, separated or collapsed sections are flagged before we begin, so we never make a weak spot worse.
We pick the right nozzle and pressure for the pipe size and material, locate the best access point, usually a cleanout, and give you an upfront quote. Floors and the work area are protected before the hose goes in.
The jetter is run through the full length of the problem section, working back and forth to cut roots and wash grease and scale down the line. Debris flushes out to the municipal sewer or septic system.
We run the camera again so you can see the cleaned pipe walls on the screen. We point out anything that still needs attention, like root entry points or a joint that may need repair later.
A lot of New York sewer lines are old enough that cabling alone just cannot keep up. Clay laterals in older city neighborhoods from Buffalo to Albany to Brooklyn have joints every few feet, and mature street trees send fine roots through every one of them. Cast iron drains inside the house scale up over decades, especially in western New York and the Finger Lakes, where hard water leaves mineral deposits. Restaurants and busy households add grease. Jetting is often the only way to restore close to full pipe diameter without digging.
If you are tired of calling for the same clog, call Fullerton at (518) 776-7838. We answer 24/7, serve all of New York State from our Albany base, and will show you on camera exactly what is in your line before and after we jet it. If a repair makes more sense than another cleaning, we will say so plainly and quote it upfront.
Hydro jetting cost depends on the length and diameter of the line, how heavy the buildup is, and how easy it is to reach. A line with a clear outdoor cleanout is faster than one that needs access through a toilet flange or roof vent. Dense roots take longer to cut than grease. Most jobs include a camera inspection before and after, which adds value by showing what was cleared. We give you an upfront quote before any jetting starts.

Called Fullerton for a sewer main backing up into my basement on a Sunday night and they had someone sent out within an hour. Shaquille was incredibly helpful with clearing out the line and showing us a live view of our sewer line. Shaquille even went above to help us clean out the water mess from the issue. Overall great experience and fast help!
Great fast service. Darrel was quick to analyze the problem and and cleared it cleared it up in short order. Thanks very much!
Called for an emergency off hours drain clog. Shaq came sooner than had indicated, got the drain unclog and made sure water was draining smoothly. Professional courteous and fair price. I will definitely use Fullerton again and recommend!

Jetting usually keeps a line clear much longer than snaking because it cleans the full pipe wall instead of opening a small path. How long depends on what caused the buildup. Grease and roots come back eventually, but at a far slower rate after a thorough jetting.
Yes. Root cutting nozzles slice through roots and flush them down the line. Jetting does not seal the cracks or joints the roots came through, so roots can return over time. The camera shows where they are entering, which helps you decide between periodic jetting and a lasting sewer repair.
For a single clog in a sink or tub, regular cabling is usually enough. Hydro jetting makes sense when clogs keep coming back, when grease or roots are the cause, or when several drains are slow at once. We will recommend the simpler option when it will do the job.
Not when it is done properly. We protect the floor around the access point and control the hose so water and debris go down the line, not onto your floor. Clean up is part of the job, and reviews regularly mention that our team leaves the work area clean.
It can clear the line between the house and the septic tank of grease, sludge and roots. Jetting does not pump the tank itself. If the tank is full, the line will keep backing up, so we will let you know if what we see points to the tank needing pumping.
