Quick answer: Yes. We take calls from the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Our vans are based in Albany, so when you call, we will tell you plainly what scheduling looks like for your address. Planned work, like water heater replacement or building drain maintenance, is the easiest to fit in, and we always confirm before booking.

New York City is five counties packed into one city: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Each borough has its own kind of plumbing. Manhattan is towers, prewar co-ops and walk up tenements. Brooklyn and the Bronx mix brownstones, row houses and large apartment buildings. Queens runs from attached brick homes in Astoria and Ridgewood to detached houses in Bayside and Queens Village. Staten Island is mostly one and two family homes with yards, driveways and basements. We work with homeowners, landlords, co-op boards and property managers across all of it.

What these buildings share is age and density. A large share of the city was built before World War II, so cast iron stacks, galvanized risers and old brass fittings are still in service behind plaster walls. One clogged branch line in a multifamily building can back up into several units at once. Basements sit below street level, and heavy rain can overwhelm the combined sewer system and push water back into floor drains. Water from the city's upstate reservoirs is soft, which is kind to fixtures, but old pipes still corrode from the inside out.

Plumbing Problems We See Most in New York City

Clogged stacks and shared lines

In a multifamily building, kitchen and bathroom drains feed shared stacks. Grease, wipes and decades of buildup narrow those lines until a clog on an upper floor shows up in a lower unit. We clear branch lines and stacks with cables and hydro jetting, then run a camera so the super or owner can see the pipe condition.

Aging risers and supply lines

Galvanized steel risers rust from the inside, which shows up as low pressure, brown water and pinhole leaks that stain ceilings below. Replacing a riser in an occupied building takes planning. We find the leak, make the repair, and lay out repiping in stages so tenants keep water for as much of the job as possible.

Basement backups in heavy rain

Much of the city uses a combined sewer system that carries both stormwater and sewage. In a hard rain, it can back up through basement floor drains and toilets. We clear and inspect your building sewer, and we can install backwater valves and sump pumps that help keep that water out of your basement.

Old cast iron building sewers

The pipe that runs from your building to the city main is often old cast iron or clay. It cracks, sags and collects roots from street trees. Our sewer camera shows exactly where the damage is, so you can decide between hydro jetting, a spot repair or a full sewer line replacement.

Called Fullerton for a sewer main backing up into my basement on a Sunday night and they had someone sent out within an hour. Shaquille was incredibly helpful with clearing out the line and showing us a live view of our sewer line. Shaquille even went above to help us clean out the water mess from the issue. Overall great experience and fast help!

New York City Plumbing Questions

Yes. We take calls from the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Our vans are based in Albany, so when you call, we will tell you plainly what scheduling looks like for your address. Yes. A good share of city work is multifamily, and we work with owners, supers, co-op boards and management companies. We clear stacks and building sewers, fix leaks between units, replace water heaters and set up preventive drain maintenance. You get an upfront quote before work starts and a clear explanation you can pass along to tenants or a board.

Most of New York City runs on a combined sewer system that carries stormwater and sewage in the same pipes. In a heavy storm, those pipes fill and water can push back up through the lowest drain in your building. A clear building sewer helps, and a backwater valve or sump pump adds protection. We can inspect your line with a camera and recommend the right fix.

Often, yes. In prewar buildings, low pressure usually comes from galvanized pipes that have rusted shut on the inside, a failing valve, or a problem at a fixture. We test pressure, find where it drops off, and fix that section. When the pipes are too far gone, we lay out a repiping plan that keeps disruption to a minimum.
