Plumber on Long Island, NY
Fullerton Plumbing handles drains, sewer and cesspool lines, water heaters and emergency repairs for homeowners and businesses across Nassau and Suffolk counties, from Valley Stream out to the East End.
Quick answer: Yes. We take calls from all of Long Island, from the Queens line to the East End. Our vans are based in Albany, so we will tell you honestly what scheduling looks like for your town when you call. Planned work, like water heater replacement, repiping or sewer line repair, is the easiest to book, and you get an upfront quote before work starts.
Long Island runs more than a hundred miles from the Queens line to Montauk and Orient Point, and it covers two very different counties. Nassau is dense, established suburbs: Massapequa, Hicksville, Levittown, Freeport, Valley Stream, Long Beach and dozens of villages packed close together. Suffolk is bigger and more spread out, from Huntington, Smithtown and the Babylon area through Riverhead to the Hamptons and the North Fork. Between them you will find south shore canal neighborhoods, north shore bluffs, barrier beaches and a lot of farmland on the East End.
Most Long Island homes went up in the building boom after World War II. Levittown and the developments that followed it filled Nassau and western Suffolk with Capes, ranches and split levels from the 1950s and 1960s, and many of those homes still have original drain lines and supply piping. The island sits on sandy soil over its own groundwater aquifer, the source of its drinking water. Large parts of Suffolk, and some of Nassau, are not connected to a public sewer and rely on cesspools or septic systems. Near the south shore, a high water table and storm surge add flooding risk.

Call (518) 776-7838 with your town and the problem, and we will tell you honestly what scheduling looks like for your address before anything is booked. Plumbing Problems We See Most on Long Island
Original 1950s and 60s plumbing
Postwar homes across Nassau and western Suffolk are now 60 or more years old. Original cast iron drains scale up and crack, and older supply lines corrode. We see slow drains, recurring clogs and hidden leaks in these homes all the time. A camera inspection tells you which sections are worth saving and which are ready to replace.
Cesspool and septic line backups
Where homes are not on a public sewer, waste flows to a cesspool or septic system. When the line to that system clogs, cracks or settles in sandy soil, you get gurgling drains and backups. We clear and camera the line from the house to the tank or cesspool and repair the pipe. Pumping and system replacement belong to a septic contractor, and we will say so.
High water table flooding
Close to the south shore, groundwater sits near the surface, and coastal storms can push water up fast. Basements and low crawl spaces in places like Freeport, Long Beach and Massapequa are especially exposed. We install and replace sump pumps, add battery backups and set up backwater protection so rising water has a way out.
Iron and corrosion in well water
Long Island groundwater can carry iron and can be on the acidic side in some areas, which stains fixtures and wears on copper pipes and water heaters over time. Where water quality is a problem, we install water softeners and treatment equipment and replace corroded piping and tanks before they leak.

Called Fullerton for a sewer main backing up into my basement on a Sunday night and they had someone sent out within an hour. Overall great experience and fast help!

Called for an emergency off hours drain clog. Shaq came sooner than had indicated, got the drain unclog and made sure water was draining smoothly. Professional courteous and fair price. I will definitely use Fullerton again and recommend!

No, pumping is done by cesspool and septic companies with pump trucks. What we do is the plumbing between your house and the system: clearing clogged lines, camera inspections to find cracks or root intrusion, and repairing or replacing the pipe. If your backup is a full cesspool rather than a blocked line, we will tell you so you call the right company.
Near the south shore, the water table is high, and storms and heavy rain raise it further. Water finds its way through foundation cracks and up through floor drains. A properly sized sump pump with a battery backup is the most reliable fix, and a backwater valve helps if water is coming up through your sewer line. We can look at your basement and recommend a setup.
Often, yes, especially if you are seeing low pressure, discolored water or repeated leaks. Pipes from that era are near the end of their life. Repiping replaces old supply lines with modern copper or PEX, and it is usually done room by room so you keep water most of the time. We will inspect first and tell you if a partial job makes more sense.
