Kitchen sink backed up, shower standing in water or the basement floor drain gurgling? We clear clogs at the source with the right machine for the pipe, then test so water drains freely.
Quick answer: Call Fullerton Plumbing at (518) 776-7838. We answer 24/7, including nights, weekends and holidays, and dispatch the nearest available technician. We are based in Albany and serve all of New York State. Customers have had us at the door within 30 minutes for a blocked kitchen sink on a Saturday.
A clogged drain starts as an annoyance and turns into a mess fast. Grease and food scraps build up in kitchen lines, hair and soap scum choke shower and tub drains, and wipes or paper towels jam toilets and main lines. Store bought drain openers can soften a small clog, but they rarely clear the buildup coating the pipe walls, and repeated use is hard on older pipes. Fullerton Plumbing uses professional drain cables and, when needed, hydro jetting to open the line fully instead of just punching a small hole through the clog.
We clean every kind of residential drain: kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, laundry standpipes, basement floor drains and the main line that carries everything to the street or septic system. One Albany homeowner called us on a Saturday about a blocked kitchen sink after Thanksgiving and had a technician at the door in 30 minutes. If a clog keeps coming back, we can run a camera to see why. You always get an upfront quote before we start, and we leave the area clean.

We ask which fixtures are slow, which are fine and when it started. That pattern tells us whether the clog is in a single branch line or in the main drain, which changes the right tool and where we access the pipe.
Small branch lines get a hand or drum cable sized for the pipe. Main lines get a larger sectional machine with cutting heads. Heavy grease or root buildup may call for hydro jetting. We explain the choice and quote first.
We run the cable or jetter through the full length of the blockage, not just far enough to get water moving. The goal is to scrape the pipe walls so the clog does not rebuild in a few weeks.
We run water through every affected fixture to confirm full flow. If the line keeps clogging, we can run a camera to check for roots, sags or broken pipe, and we give practical tips to keep it clear.
Age is the biggest factor. Many homes in Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Buffalo, Rochester and the older parts of Brooklyn and Queens still run on original cast iron drain lines. Over decades the inside of cast iron rusts and scales, creating a rough surface that catches grease and hair far faster than smooth modern pipe. Outside, clay sewer laterals have joints that tree roots find easily. Add hard water in western New York and the Finger Lakes, which leaves mineral deposits, and you get drains that narrow slowly until one big meal or a holiday crowd finishes the job.
Clogs also tend to hit at the worst times, like Thanksgiving night or a weekend full of guests. That is why Fullerton answers 24/7. We are based in Albany and serve all of New York State, sending the nearest available technician with a full set of drain machines. Call (518) 776-7838 any time and we will get your water moving again, then tell you honestly whether the line needs anything more.
The cost of drain cleaning depends on where the clog is and what caused it. A single sink or tub drain is quicker than a main line clog that affects the whole house. Access matters: a clear cleanout saves time compared to pulling a toilet or working from a roof vent. Grease, roots and heavy scale may need hydro jetting rather than a cable, and a camera inspection adds time but answers why a line keeps failing. We give you an upfront quote before any work starts.

Repeat clogs usually mean the buildup was only partly removed, or there is a physical problem in the pipe. Old cast iron scale, a belly where the pipe sags, tree roots, or a broken section all cause recurring blockages. A full cleaning with the right cable or a hydro jet, plus a camera inspection, finds the real cause.
We do not recommend relying on them. Caustic drain openers can work on a minor clog, but they often leave the buildup on the pipe walls, and repeated use can be hard on old metal pipes and seals. If chemicals are sitting in a blocked line, tell your plumber before they open the drain.
For a simple hair clog, removing the drain cover and pulling the hair out with a plastic drain tool often works. If water still stands, the clog is deeper in the trap or branch line. We clear it with a small cable machine sized for the pipe, then test the drain.
Standard drain cleaning uses a rotating cable to cut through and pull out a clog. Hydro jetting uses high pressure water to scour the full inside of the pipe, removing grease, scale and roots. Cabling is right for most single clogs. Jetting is better for recurring main line problems and heavy grease.
Yes. When several fixtures back up at once, especially the lowest drains in the basement, the main line is usually blocked. We clear it from a cleanout using a large sectional machine, and can run a camera afterward so you can see the condition of the line on the screen.
