Leak Detection details
Low pressure, rusty water and leak after leak usually mean the pipes themselves are worn out. Repiping replaces the old supply lines so you stop chasing the next failure.
Quick answer: Common signs include low pressure at multiple fixtures, rusty or discolored water, repeated pinhole leaks, and visible corrosion on exposed pipe. If your home still has galvanized steel supply lines, it is likely a candidate. We can inspect your system and tell you honestly.
Repiping means replacing the water supply lines in your home, either all of them or a section that keeps failing. It is the right call when the pipe material itself has reached the end of its life. Galvanized steel corrodes from the inside, slowly choking flow and sending rust into your water. Older copper can develop pinhole leaks, especially with certain water chemistry. Some homes also have problem materials from past renovations or poorly done repairs. Patching one leak at a time eventually costs more than doing it right.
Fullerton Plumbing repipes with PEX or copper depending on the home, the layout and your preference. PEX is flexible, resists freezing damage better than rigid pipe and can be routed with fewer wall openings. Copper is durable and proven. We plan routes to keep wall and ceiling openings as small as practical, work room by room to limit downtime, and keep water service available as much as possible during the job. You get a clear plan and an upfront quote before any work starts.

We look at exposed pipe in the basement and utility areas, test pressure and check water quality at several fixtures. That tells us whether a partial repipe will solve the problem or the whole house needs attention.
We map new pipe routes to reach every fixture with the fewest wall openings, recommend PEX or copper, and explain the schedule. You get an upfront quote covering materials, labor and the scope of openings.
We run new supply lines, add shutoff valves at fixtures where needed, and connect to your main and water heater. We work in stages to keep you without water for as little time as possible.
The new system is pressure tested, flushed and checked at every fixture. Old pipe is removed or abandoned safely, and we clean up the work areas. We explain any wall patching you will need.
New York has some of the oldest housing stock in the country. Many homes in Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Utica, Buffalo and the older neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens were plumbed with galvanized steel, which was common for much of the last century. After decades, that pipe is often badly corroded inside, and pressure drops as the opening narrows. Hard water in western New York and the Finger Lakes adds mineral buildup. Freeze and thaw cycles stress joints in older homes with plumbing in exterior walls. Eventually, repair after repair stops making sense.
If you are dealing with recurring leaks or weak pressure, call Fullerton at (518) 776-7838. We serve all of New York State from our Albany base, answer 24/7 for emergencies, and will give you an honest assessment of whether repiping is worth it. Sometimes a targeted repair is enough. When the whole system is failing, we plan a repipe that limits disruption and quote it upfront before any work starts.
Repiping cost depends on the size of the home, the number of bathrooms and fixtures, the pipe material you choose and how accessible the existing lines are. An unfinished basement and open floor joists make routing easier than finished ceilings and plaster walls. Multi story homes and older layouts may need more openings. Whole house jobs differ from replacing a single failing section. Wall patching and finishing are usually separate. We give you an upfront quote before any work starts.

Great service made sure everything was up to speck before leaving
I had an issue with my plumbing today and was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service I just received. The team was very fast, helpful, and knowledgeable, completely in contrast to my usual experience trying to get a hold of a plumber. Darnel (sp) was awesome! We are definitely saving this number for any future needs. Highly recommend to anyone looking for help.
Darell was exceptionally at his job. He was professional, polite and kind. He explained everything as he went along. I would definitely recommend him.

Both are good choices. PEX is flexible, resists freezing damage better, and needs fewer fittings and wall openings, which usually lowers cost. Copper is rigid, long lasting and works well in exposed runs. We recommend based on your home's layout and what you prefer.
It depends on the size of the home and how accessible the pipes are. Smaller homes with open basements can often be done in a few days, while larger or more finished homes take longer. We give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
Most of the time, yes. We plan the work in stages so water is shut off only while we connect new lines. At the end of each work day, we aim to leave you with working water. We will tell you when to expect short shutoffs.
Yes. If the problems are limited to one area, such as a corroded section in the basement or a run feeding one bathroom, a partial repipe can make sense. We inspect the system and recommend the smallest scope that solves the problem.
Usually, yes, when low pressure is caused by corroded or undersized pipe. Replacing narrowed galvanized lines restores full flow. If low pressure comes from the municipal supply, a failing pressure regulator or a well system, we check those too, so you are not paying to repipe for a problem elsewhere.
